A Conversation on Gun Violence

"I think Merced has a lot of guns, most of which are illegal I suppose since the times I’ve seen or heard about guns weren’t necessarily from adults. A lot of teenagers here in Merced have access to guns. I have had friends who either own a gun or carry a gun around at all times for “protection.” I personally think that I shouldn’t have to fear what I haven’t done and so far I have no problems with anyone."

School Transportation

Students have been walking two to three miles every day just to get to and from school. Back when 
this school year started the weather was fine to walk in but ever since fall began, the weather has been getting worse and lately it’s been cold and
rainy. Some students walk
on streets with no sidewalks, like the students who have to wade through parts of Childs Avenue to get to Golden Valley High School. Not only are there no sidewalks in some of these areas but also some parts are easily flooded when it rains. How are they expected to get to school on time or even make it to school?

If I could change the apperance and make something positive that everyone could use, Merced would be a happier, healtheir place. Changing these places from negatives to positives would improve the appearance and hopefully bring the community closer together.

I know that sexuality is a very taboo subject in todays society, but here is an interesting fact: did you know that half of young adults and teens will get a STD before they turn 25 and many of them will have no idea. If you’re having any kind of sex, the most common symptom of STDs is no symptom. The only way to know for sure is to get tested.
