One thing they forgot to state is that when you go to the emergency room you get billed no matter if you are undocumented, a citizen, or a resident. Even following their flawed logic, if it seems that undocumented immigrants’ visit to the emergency room will cost the nation “millions,” why not simply give undocumented immigrants the opportunity to purchase health care? Then they could have access to health care while not practically “living off” other people as some members of Congress believe.

According to The California Endowment, 95 percent of economists agree that undocumented immigrants benefit the Californian economy and 76 percent of Californians believe that undocumented immigrants deserve a path to legal status. There are currently about 2.6 million undocumented immigrants in California with 92 percent of whom are in a working household. The only reason they choose to come here is to give their children a better life, not to “mess up” the country as many would say. It is time to adapt to the changes and give everyone an equal opportunity of benefits.
