People my age definitely have a reputation for leaving things until the last moment, but it can be dangerous lifestyle that can affect our future. The downward spiral of procrastination in my peers is further fueled by increasing social media and phone usage—people my age send and receive an average of 30 distracting texts per day.
Roughly 40 percent of students We’Ced surveyed said RtI was a helpful way to get work done, while 35 percent described it as a “waste of time.” A quarter of students surveyed said RtI was effective only for students already motivated to take advantage of it and when quality mentors or teachers are available.
As Merced schools lie within one of the poorest counties in the state, many students fit within one or more of the groups eligible for additional funding under LCFF. According to Kidsdata.org, 79% of students in Merced County are eligible for free or reduced price lunch, available for children whose family’s income is 185% or less of the federal poverty line, or about $44,000 for a family of four in 2013-2014.
Unfortunately homosexual students, such as myself, won’t know what to do or how to be safe in future actions unless we find information independently. Although same-sex couples cannot impregnate their partners, they still run the risk of STDs. Any information I wanted to know I have found on my own, through the Internet.
Having substitute teachers can create confusion for students, and it happens frequently. According to a 2012 study conducted by the Center for American Progress, 36 percent of teachers nationally were absent more than 10 days during the 2009-10 school year. The findings are based on an analysis of 56,837 elementary, middle and high schools.

Students have been walking two to three miles every day just to get to and from school. Back when this school year started the weather was fine to walk in but ever since fall began, the weather has been getting worse and lately it’s been cold and rainy. Some students walk on streets with no sidewalks, like the students who have to wade through parts of Childs Avenue to get to Golden Valley High School. Not only are there no sidewalks in some of these areas but also some parts are easily flooded when it rains. How are they expected to get to school on time or even make it to school?
I never paid too much attention to the recruiters. I’d usually end the conversation quickly or dodge their questions. I thought recruiters would pressure people into joining the military. I felt they were trying to fill their quotas and with limited time to fill them it makes it easier to target low-income families where the people are more likely to need the jobs, money and education the military can offer.
